Nature Group, the Environmental business unit of Burando Maritime Services, is very pleased to announce its further expansion with the acquisition of Martens Cleaning. Martens Cleaning has approximately 75 employees and is located in Nieuwdorp (Zeeland), from where it serves its customers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
With the consolidation of both companies, Nature Group secures its strategic objective of controlling the entire MARPOL waste management chain. By adding Martens’ capabilities in the field of in-house processing and recovery of various waste streams (MARPOL Annex I – VI) to Nature Group’s activities, the company makes an important step in the sustainability and circularity aspect of the services it provides for its extensive national and international customer portfolio.
The combination of Nature Group and Martens has more than 40 years of experience and positions itself as a ‘one-stop-shop’ waste management specialist to the maritime, petrochemical, and offshore industries. The combination will strengthen the group’s market leadership in the maritime waste industry and enable the company to control the entire waste chain from collection, transportation, final treatment, and recycling of all disposed waste streams.
Turning waste into valuable reusable mineral products has been Martens Cleaning core competence formany years and will continue to be the company’s main strategic focus going forward. The combined organization owns and operates a dedicated fleet of 34 state-of-the-art slop collection tankers, 2 dedicated Marpol Annex V crane barges, and 5 vacuum trucks. Nature Group’s waste collection network, with presence in all Dutch seaports, will be expanded towards many Belgium ports by cooperating with Martens’ waste collection network.
In the upcoming period, further news and updates will be shared regarding the further steps towards full integration, implementation of the combined strategy, and the introduction of Maritime & Industrial Cleaning, Waste Treatment & Recycling, and Maritime Waste and Slop Disposal as new Nature Group business units.
